Iowa State Representative



LEWIS H. MAYNE Representative from Palo Alto county, was born at Heuvelton, New York, September 2, 1858. When five years of age, following the death of his mother, his father and family moved to Mendota, Illinois, and in 1876 to Adair county, Iowa. In 1879 he entered a district school in Illinois, and in 1881 the Northern Indiana university, and studied one year. Later he taught school four months, then entered Eureka college. He then spent several years in teaching school, four years in the U.S. mail service, resigning in 1892 and entered the publication of the Algona Republican. In the spring of 1894 he became publisher and editor of the Palo Alto Reporter. He was elected representative in 1918 and 1920. A republican in politics.
